Are Old Omega Watches Valuable

Being Rolex’s main rival for many years now, Omega is usually seen as less valuable than the giant Rolex. This is especially true when it comes to vintage timepieces. While many of Omega’s timepieces are much better compared to their competitor collection from Rolex, Rolexes are usually considered much more valuable and thus better. But, this is by no means true.

There are tons of special editions of Omega watches from the 50s and the 60s that have been auctioned for hundreds of thousands of dollars, or even millions. A great example of these is Elvis Presley’s Omega watch, which was auctioned for a little bit over 1.8 million US Dollars back in 2018. This watch was worn by the king of Rock N Roll himself back in the early 1960s, so it can undoubtedly be considered an old Omega watch.

But that’s just an example of a watch worn by one of the most well-known people in the music industry. How do other old Omega watches fair?

Well, most of them aren’t as valuable. However, many have considered Omega as one of the best watch brands when it comes to their vintage timekeeping. This is because they have tons of watches that are considered vintage, like their De Villes and Constellations series, which are excellent choices for enthusiasts who are buying their first vintage watch.

So, while Omega might not have really valuable vintage watches, they have the best value in vintage timekeeping, compared to brands like Rolex. So, let’s take a look at a couple of their best vintage collections that still hold their value.

Omega Seamaster

While new models of the Omega Seamaster collection are still released to this day, the models from the 50s and 60s are some of the most beautiful timepieces there are. This is a great change since most modern Seamasters are either related to James Bond or are just dive watches.

You will be able to find some great Seamasters online, with minimal wear, and most of them are under $1000

Omega Constellation

We already mentioned the Constellation series above, but we’d like to talk about it more in-depth since these are some of the most beautiful designs Omega has ever made. While the Constellation collection is still running, the modern models aren’t as great as the old ones.

These used to come in a vast array of shapes and sizes, with the cushion-cased ones being our favorite. You will be able to find many different Constellation watches on the market, and most of them are of excellent quality. Some of them are actually cheaper than the timepieces from the Seamaster collection, so they are great choices for entry-level vintage watches.

Conclusion

While there may be a few examples where vintage Omega watches were sold for really high prices, most of the vintage watches aren’t that valuable. However, Omega vintage collections have some of the best entry-level watches for your vintage watch collection. So, if you’re looking for a great vintage watch, you should either go for a Constellation or a Seamaster.
