Learn How to Change a Breitling Watch Strap

While it might seem obvious to some experience watch owners, changing a strap on a Breitling watch can give some novice owners a hard time. Luckily, changing a watch strap is not tricky, and once you learn how it’s done, the same technique can be used on a variety of watch models. While some other brands of watches might use slightly different technology, the general concept is the same.

If you are serious about becoming a Breitling collector or simply just want to swap your strap, learning how to change a strap is a great skill to have. Let’s take a look at the simple process of changing the Breitling watch strap.

STEP 1

Remove the new Breitling strap from the included travel pouch. Next, place your Breitling watch on a smooth, level surface. You should put it so that it is lying upside down and the case back is exposed.

If you own a Breitling spring bar tool, this next step is where it will come in handy. If not, any type of strap changing tool will also do the trick.

STEP 2

In this step, we will be removing the previous strap and replacing it with the new leather edition. To do so, hold the watch firmly with your hand and insert the forked end of the tool in between the strap side and the lugs on the case back.

Next, gently push the spring bar out of the lug hole and then repeat this same exact process on the other side.
Always remember to be cautious when handling the tool to avoid making any scratches on the inside of the lug area.

STEP 3

Next, slide the new strap bar in between both of the lugs.

In this step, you should check to ensure that your strap is in the right place according to its buckle.
Then, hold the watch firmly and carefully insert one side of the pin bar into the lug hole. Make sure that you are using the right sized spring bar for your watch.

STEP 4

While you are holding the spring bar in the correct position, slide back the second pin of the bar and place it in the opposite side lughole. You can do this with the forked side of the tool.

Rotate the watch and repeat these steps on the other side of the strap.

Again, be very careful with this part of the process, as it is straightforward to scratch the inside portion of the lug.

STEP 5

Lastly, make sure that the strap is attached firmly by giving a few tugs on either side of the belt. Now you have successfully changed the leather strap on your Breitling watch. These simple steps can be repeated any time you want to change your strap.

Owning a Breitling watch should be a point of pride. So anytime you want to upgrade your strap or simply change it up, just follow this easy 5 step process. Breitling watches are some of the best in the business, and changing the strap couldn’t be easier.
